Are you getting ready to go on a boat? Do not forget to pack these things.

If you plan to sail on an adventure for the first time, you need to know how to pack properly. A vacation on a boat is significantly different from a beach vacation. We have a few tips which should not be missing from your luggage.

Are you getting ready to go on a boat? Do not forget to pack these things.

The less, the better

The motto applies here as well: Less is more. Whether you are planning a vacation on islands or want to sail to the high seas, each inch of space comes in handy. The cabins where you will be staying are not hotel rooms. Even though they provide sufficient comfort, there is no room for big luggage. The ideal solution is to choose textile luggage which can be easily folded. You will not find space for a large suitcase on a yacht and it will only take away your comfort.

Remember to have suitable shoes

Shoes represent one of the most important items. In addition to flip-flops, be sure to pack trainers or the beloved as well as hated Crocs. If you are planning a trip to Croatia, you will also appreciate water shoes which will protect you from an unpleasant meeting with a sea-urchin or sharper rocks hidden at the bottom of the sea. A slippery deck is not unusual and therefore, sturdier shoes are a necessity which deserves its spot even in smaller luggage. Shoes on a boat must have a non-slip sole which is also light in colour, so it does not leave any marks and smudges on the deck.

Think of all types of weather

Hot sun, wind or rain. Every weather requires its own clothing. Take your swimsuit, T-shirts, shorts and trousers to a yacht, the same way you would take them to an ordinary vacation at the seaside. Head protection in the form of a cap or hat is definitely a necessity. In case of windy conditions, it is ideal to secure them with a clip. Sunglasses are necessary too, we also recommend to secure them with a string, as well as a high-quality waterproof jacket that will protect you against water and wind.
Taking a backpack in which you will carry important things during trips is also a good idea. Quality sunscreen with a high sun protection factor, a product that will protect you against annoying insects, a towel, battery or prescription medication. Be sure not to forget to pack these things.

Bonus that might come in handy

There is also no harm in packing pills that will help you overcome seasickness into the first-aid kit. Maybe it has not given you a hard time yet, but you will feel safer, if you have them at hand. The same goes for some painkillers or digestive pills. You will not regret taking a waterproof case where you can safely store your electronics either. And if you plan to explore the underwater world, do not forget your snorkel.
There will certainly be some space for a good book or card games which are almost made for sailing in bad weather conditions. Now you are ready to experience your first sea adventure.
